Location

Early in the project I decided that I would be filming in the photography studio at college. I chose to film here because I wanted to do a silhouetted or low light music video. I also thought that I could somehow use the coloured lights above the photography studio for some sections of the video, but I’m still not sure on this idea.

I started the Location recce just after the shot list was made. I kept the layout for this the same as I did for other projects because I find that this way its easy to read and understand. The information I’ve provided on the recce report is accurate and up-to-date. I like this layout because it’s straight forward and easy for someone outside of my project to read and understand the report.

I took a photo of the photography studio so that you have an idea of where I will be filming and the amount of space I have available. Unfortunately I’m aware that the space on where the backdrop is limited, so I will have to be careful not to show edges of the back drop in any shots.

If I cant mange to figure out a way to ration the space I have, I came up with a back up plan for filming. It will be shot in one space, solely focused on the main character and the second character circling around him. I’m confident I can make it work since I’ve seen a video like it before. Here’s an example:

They barely use any space in this video, yet I find it captivating to watch. I’m hoping that my back-up plan will be as good as this video, but I will just have to wait for production week to find out.
