Shot list

Yesterday I managed to finally complete the Shot List. I have been delaying finishing this document because I had to make sure I have all the necessary paperwork and details about my music video to picture how I would make a shot list for it. It was somewhat difficult to fill in because I’m not sure if I will definitely use all the shots I’ve listed and plans may change during production. Despite this, I managed to complete a shot list that I believe has enough detail included

I decided to include some details about the people involved in the music video. I listed myself as the camera operator, and I listed Daisy and Ioan as actors 1&2. I did a shot list for the confession and murder scenes separate since I will be filming in different locations.

Compared to the previous shot lists I have made, this one includes much more detail about the shot and scenes taking place. Before I would only mention the shot number, shot type and what would happen. This time I thought it would be smart to include the scene number, perspective and description on top of that. This will allow me to follow the shot types as I’m filming and make the clips look as close to the shot list as possible.

I tried to include as much detail in the list as I could and I believe I have managed to do that. I can easily understands my shot list which is beneficial for me as I’ll be filming. I kept the list straight to the point and in return that makes it easier to understand.

As I mentioned, the shot list was somewhat difficult to make. This is just down to me being full of ideas and finding it hard to place them all into one document and keep them as a linear story line. Luckily I looked back at my story board and it helped me keep the shot list straightforward.

As for document left for me to complete, I have already done the majority of jobs I have to do. I need to take photographs of the places I want to film for the location recce, but apart from that I have nothing more to add into my production folder for another 3 weeks.

In these spare 3 weeks, I am planning to go over the documents I have already made and see if I need to edit anything out or into them. I want my documents to be as detailed as possible and make sure that I haven’t left anything important out. I’ll also be editing some blog posts to check for the same reasons I just listed.
