Project Proposal

Today we got the project brief from our lecturer for our final major project. Our final project gives us the freedom to make whatever we want as long as it’s appropriate and follows the brief. We were given a link from Dropbox to download the proposal template. Here’s the link to my finished Project proposal

Our proposal is split into three sections. First we have to write about the rationale of the project which is basically us stating what we have learned throughout the course, the skills we have gained, the skills we want to improve and mention our aspirations for the future.

section 1

The second section is where we explain the concept of the project. We have to explain what we are hoping to achieve in this project, what we want to do and the research and ideas that will link to the evolution of the project.

section 2

The third section is about how we will reflect and evaluate our work throughout the project and also at the end.

section 3

In the next section, we had to fill out a project action plan and timetable. This is useful for us as it will help keep everything organised and pre-planned out. On our brief it does mention on each section what dates those tasks start and finish. I used this as a guide to fill out my timetable.

The first 3 weeks of the project will be mainly focused on planning what I will be filming and organising dates and locations. I’m sure that 3 weeks will be enough to do this as I tend to breeze through paperwork with minimal difficulty. I do put a lot of thought into what I want to film which is why I can do the paperwork quite quick.

My only concern is that I may not be able to find somewhere to film in those 3 weeks and it will push this project back a few days or weeks. Due to what happened in my last project I’m determined to make sure that I get all the more important paperwork and plans finished first. This way I don’t have to worry about finding somewhere to film during my production period.

Following the brief dates guideline, I figured that we have around 2 weeks to film which is surely enough time for me to gather footage. I will most likely be filming the bulk of my footage on weekends and Mondays, the rest of the week will most likely be filming establishing shots or artsy shots. Hopefully I can get permission off my tutors to leave college early to film more with the actor I had in mind (He is in Swansea university so I would need to figure out what days are best for him).

I noticed that there’s a two week gap in the middle of April which I assumed was for Easter. I thought that those two weeks could be used to finish off anything that had to be edited or completed still. If I stick to that then I wouldn’t have to worry about outstanding work when I come back from Easter holiday.

The period after this I will be focusing on editing the video. I have 2 weeks to do this which I reckon would be enough time for me to finish this. If I manage to film more footage during Easter, I doubt I would have to film any extra footage. If I do have to film more footage, that may push me back a few days or so on my schedule, but I doubt that will happen if I have around 3 or 4 weeks in total to film.

The last 2 weeks or so will mainly be focused on delivering my final product to a standard that I’m happy with. I will gather feedback on my music video from my peers and lecturers which will be added into my overall evaluation of the project. This blog will help me write my evaluation as long as I remember to document each step of this project. It will help jog my memory to previous months throughout the project which will let me write a genuine evaluation.
