On my way into college, I thought about what type of characters I want in my video. I know the concept of my video, however I still had to figure out what characteristics these people will have in the video. So today I have made a Character profile for both actors.
I decided to list a number of different factors of a character such as their name, age, gender and nationality. I also thought it would be a good idea and think outside the box of what else I should include. Although my video is only focusing on one period of the characters life, a descriptive background gives more depth to the character – it also shows my ability to develop characters and show off my imaginative skills.
The background section was probably the hardest to write because my main focus of the video is set in one time period of both lives, so figuring out a different back story for the characters was a bit of a challenge for me. Even though I found it somewhat hard to write, I do believe that it’s detailed enough to be a convincing background story. Both characters are linked to one another so I had to include them in both back stories of the characters. This wasn’t too hard to come up with as I just thought of a generic way of two people meeting and becoming friends, then partners.
This took me around half an hour to finish, I’m not sure if that was too long or too short but I am happy with the amount of detail I put into these characters. Character profiles are important because it allows the actors to read through them and figure out how they can portray these characters in the film. As soon as I manage to find actors for my video and get the consent forms signed, I will hand this to them (as well as costume design) and go through how I would like the characters to act and dress.
For this visual poem, I’m thinking about using the studio in college to film as well as filming at home. The studio could be used for the protagonist’s ‘confession’ and I could film the murder scene at my house. I’ve ordered fake blood and a cheap silver heart on amazon for this project, so hopefully I will find a way to use both of those props in my video.
